About Us

Edgerton is a friendly, small community located in the southwest corner of Minnesota in Pipestone County. We are approximately 20 miles southeast from Pipestone and 20 miles north of Luverne. The 2020 census showed that we are experiencing growth:  our current population is 1258.  Edgerton is also home to the annual Dutch Festival, held in July.

EDUCATION
The people of Edgerton embrace a strong sense of community. One way this is demonstrated is the value we place on education. In Edgerton, you will find a public elementary and high school, two private elementary schools and a private high school. We also have a strong early education program for children (and their parents) beginning as early as age three. For the 2023-2024 school year, we have approximately 875 children enrolled in Edgerton schools.

BUSINESSES
Edgerton has a vibrant business community that takes great pride in drawing customers from throughout the county and beyond (see our Business Directory for detailed information on our businesses). We are fortunate to have two medical clinics (both Avera and Sanford), a post office, bank, public library, weekly newspaper, eye care office, chiropractic clinic, several massage therapists, a tele-pharmacy, and a volunteer ambulance and fire department. Drive through our town on a regular business day, and you'll see how valuable our local business owners are to the community by the number of cars parked on Main Street.

LARGE EMPLOYERS
Edgerton's commercial base is primarily agricultural, but several employers play a significant role in broadening our economy. Our largest local employer (with approximately 250 employees) is Fey Industries. Fey Industries is a third generation, family-owned and operated light manufacturer for promotional and packaging products. Within its climate-controlled facilities, the company leverages a variety of manufacturing processes such as RF heat sealing, injection molding and thermoforming, along with various decorating techniques. Rooted in family values, the QCA-accredited company continues to stay relevant, and is a mainstay in the Edgerton community.

Our second largest employer in Edgerton is Edgebrook Care Center with approximately 125 employees. The Edgebrook Care Center Campus includes the skilled Medicare and Medicaid Certified Nursing Home, the Senior Living Community, and the Assisted Living Community to offer a continuum of long term care services.

SPORTS
We do love our sports in Edgerton. In both 2016 and 2019, our high school softball team won the State Championship.   Our Dutchmen football team became the 9-Man State Champions in 2011, and in 2013 the Southwest MN Christian High School Eagles boys basketball team took home the Class A Championship.  As for sports accomplishments of the past, many people still remember what happened in 1960: the year Edgerton won the state basketball championship when there were no classes or divisions based on school size.
